Basic Obedience is the key to developing a dog with good manners. The training I provide focuses on five basic commands: heel, down, sit, come and stay. Together we will work with your dog in an area free of distractions so he can better focus on the commands being taught. I will teach you correct leash handling techniques and appropriate methods to praise your dog as well as methods for correcting inappropriate behaviors. After two sessions, we begin to introduce your dog to significantly more distractions such as a trip to a major shopping area. The next few lessons provide for more distractions and freedom by introducing long line training. It is important to remember your dog's training is customized to your needs and requirements. Some clients are content achieving obedience control on a leash and end the process at that point. Many others want a dog they can trust off leash and the peace of mind that comes with knowing their dog will come when called, sit and stay on command without a leash. This is up to you.
Owners Responsibilities
Between lessons, it is important for you to work with your dog a couple times a day for fifteen to twenty minutes. Although this is not a significant time commitment, it is sufficient to quickly deliver results. I discourage the use of treats during the training session since our goal is having the dog respect you and your commands and not be motivated simply for the treat.
