Behavior Couseling & Modification

In many ways dogs are like people, they develop behavior problems as they grow and mature. Some of these problems are not necessarily threatening or dangerous but they can be disruptive to the family and even embarrassing. Behaviors such as play-biting, jumping on people, uncontrolled barking, house-soiling are common occurrences that need to be dealt with immediately or they will only get worse. Changes in environment such as the arrival of a new baby may cause a dog to exhibit unwanted behaviors. Often these problems can be avoided with some planning and preparation prior to the event. If your dog shows any inappropriate behavior towards the infant or a child it is imperative to address the behavior immediately. Other behavior problems may include dog aggression, people aggression, fear aggression, fence running etc. If not addressed early, these behaviors can become more frequent and intensify in nature. When working with these behavior problems, I try to understand the nature of the problem, the frequency and how and when the behaviors present themselves as well as the steps you have taken to try to eliminate the behavior. We then develop an intervention plan that may include actions such as obedience training, changes in the way you interact with the dog, changes in diet and more. Each case is different and customized programs are developed to meet your dog's unique circumstance.

Remember most behavior problems do not solve themselves.
